Our Video Marketing Manager, Isabella, sat down with Tom Burgess, the Director of Multimedia at Revenue River, to discuss video marketing tips and the future of video.
Last Week's Episode: How to Empower Your Sales Team with HubSpot's Dan Tyre
What keeps a good video team going? Whether it be for the client or for themselves, it’s the content that keeps people running and the challenge to create something meaningful.
In a constantly-changing marketing world, finding out what’s going to last can be very difficult.
Staying current with those trends, along with the wants and needs of clients, keeps things fresh and keeps people motivated to continue adapting and evolving as marketers in order to tackle all the unique obstacles that a new project brings. There’s nothing like the satisfaction of successfully tackling a project for a client and making everybody happy in the process.
Ever wonder how an agency like Revenue River gets started with a video marketing strategy?
First, do some auditing. Find out what the client has, what they don’t have, and what they need. Some clients already have a healthy stable of marketing videos and just need guidance on how to use them and make more, some will need YouTube explained. And it could fall anywhere in between.
The crucial step to bringing a cohesive marketing plan together is to ensure all videos made follow a strategy. The strategy and the team need to remain connected throughout the process to make sure everything is aligned and produced smoothly.
One of the most important and daunting aspects of the video world is having to constantly stay on top of the latest trends and tech. New equipment and software are being released and upgraded all the time and just a year-long break from upgrading your camera bag can leave you a long way from the cutting edge.
Stay aware of upgraded equipment and software by constantly putting in the research needed. Check up on blogs, subscribe to email lists, watch videos online, do whatever you need to do to make sure no necessary upgrade slips by and leaves you in the dust.
As far as techniques and new ideas, one tip from Tom is to find YouTube channels, with creators you trust, to show off new tactics and techniques you may not have considered before.
For Tom and the Revenue River team, 2020 represents a chance to continue to grow and continue to push themselves to make strategic and branded content. Do the things that it takes to bring the video department up to the next level and see how that can grow other aspects of the agency.
One thing both agencies are looking forward to developing is episodic content and the chance to make long-form content that finds an audience and brings them back again and again.
2020 represents many new challenges for all marketers. Trends will change, equipment will be needed, but staying current on everything and constantly adapting yourself is the key to staying on the cutting edge of what looks to be an exciting year.
