Top 5 Internet Marketing Challenges for Builders

Builders have a very specific target market, most of which is made up by very busy people who aren't always just sitting in an office waiting on a phenomenal company to come into their inboxes.  Like most industries, builders face certain obstacles that are specific to their target demographic.

If you're a leader or marketer for a building company, check out these five tips to help improve your web presence:

1. Mobility

You're in the field, and so are many of your target customers.  In order to stay competitive, make sure your website is mobile-friendly.  If it's not, it's time to do some rework because you're losing out on potential leads (and customers) every time someone come to your mobile-unfriendly site.

2. Lead Generation

This is a difficult task for any business and industry; if it wasn't difficult, there wouldn't be room for healthy competition!  Ideally, you've hired a great sales team to lead the helm, but they can always use some assistance.  Utilize probing forms in your "Contact Us" page to get to know what your potential consumer is looking for to ease the process along.  Work from a list of questions that you are frequently asked, and form them into a questionnaire that will aid your sales team in the long run.

3. Hiring

Remember, online marketing isn't meant solely to sell yourself to potential consumers; it's also intended to attract high-quality talent that can help further your company's capabilities in the marketplace.  Make sure you have a section devoted to career opportunities within your company, and be sure that it's accessible and user-friendly so potential candidates don't get frustrated and move along to the next possibility.

4. Landing the Big Accounts

Let's face it -- big budget projects have big budget people making the decisions.  Appeal to these high-rollers by having an appealing website that surpasses other builders.  Browse your competitors' sites, and use any intel that you gather to your advantage so you can be more informative, concise, and user-friendly than the next guy.

5. Unknown Expenditures

Learn how marketing is working for or against your budget.  Create milestones so you don't spend too much without knowing your ROI.
