Coffee Talks: HubSpot User Group and Wistia Video Marketing Workshop Review [VIDEO]

VIDEO BLOG (13).png
This week in Coffee Talks, Gabriel and Megan review last week's Sarasota HubSpot User Group Workshop which featured guest speaker, Margot da Cunha from Wistia. The workshop was very well received and included a lot of great discussion during the panel.

Some of the key takeaways and questions included:

What is Wistia?

Wistia is a video marketing tool that allows you to host and track your videos, gain an understanding of conversion optimization, add call-to-actions, and more. By being able to optimize your videos to the level that Wistia provides you are able to get a lot more engagement, improve your click-through rate, and ultimately produce more conversions.

How to Record Better Sound When You are Starting

If you are just starting out and do not have a lot of production equipment to use the best way to record sound is to place an iPhone or the best recording device that you have close to who, or what, you want the best sound from and match the audio to your recorded video.

How to Set Up Your First Studio

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to spend thousands of dollars on equipment to start implementing effective video marketing. We started our first studio with just an iPhone, a small lighting kit, and a tripod.

The Video Setup We Are Using in this Video

One light, a front camera, and a tripod. That's it...really. Picking which coffee mug to use took longer than setting up the equipment.

Do I Need to be a Professional Videographer?

Megan talks about this in a blog she wrote where she explains the importance of engaging video content over stunning production. Using one of our clients as an example, it compares the effectiveness of a well done video that was not engaging versus the success we saw with a simple video that was optimized effectively.

Simple Video Optimization Tips

  1. Make use of your first simple studio setup especially when just starting out
  2. Make the video shorter
  3. Use an exciting thumbnail
  4. Add a call-to-action at the end of the video

The simple video we made that is mentioned in Megan's blog above saw an increase in the conversion rate by 25 times the original. Yes, you read that right. 25 times not 25%.

Our Advice to People Starting with Video Marketing

Our best advice is to get a Wistia account and just start making videos! By experimenting with video marketing you can test what works and what doesn't and tailor your strategy appropriately.

What is the Goal of Your Video?

Keep in mind, your video should have one goal. Videos that try to cover too much and are too long are not effective. Videos should be no more than 30 seconds for social and 2 minutes for websites. Any video that is more than 2 minutes should be separated by chapters in Wistia. By following these guidelines it will simplify the user experience and better communicate your goal.

Check out the video to hear the rest and be on the lookout for the announcement of our next HubSpot User Group Workshop coming up!
