How to Reuse Blogs from the Past

Do you have blogs from the past that you’d like to post again, but are not sure how to? Many times, previous blog posts can be reused and can be even more successful the second time. If you have an old post that had a lot of traffic, leads, or led to new customers, (read: successful) changing the title is not the way to go. Instead, here are some blogging tips on how to reuse blogs from the past and make them even better.

Update your old content

Chances, are, some of what was in your first blog post about this topic could be updated, whether it be new data and statistics, a new development on the topic, or a new point of view on something. The core content of the article will stay the same, but it will be more relevant to today’s audience. If a blog is still generating a great deal of traffic, leads, or is ranking highly for a competitive keyword for your business, don’t publish it as a new post. Update the content instead using the existing URL so you keep its SEO value, and then republish the blog. Updating call-to-actions is also beneficial to get more traffic and generate new leads.

Use ebook excerpts for new blog content

Recycling ebook content is a quick and easy way to create a new blog post with content you already have. It is also a great way to promote your ebook again! You can do the opposite as well by using a group of old related blog posts and creating an ebook with them. Even if you don’t have enough articles to create a full ebook with, having a few already written will save you time and effort!

Repurpose content as an infographic

An infographic is a fun and innovative way to reuse information that you’ve already shared. People love visual content, and infographics are great for sharing on social media! Sometimes they can even be better than other forms at communicating your content to your target audience and readers. Take a look at HubSpot’s infographic here!

Repurposing and reusing blogs from the past is a great way to draw even more attention to popular posts, as well as great for when you don’t have a lot of time to devote to writing brand new blog posts. Changing just a few details to make your content more relevant to your target audience can go a long way.
